Midsommar i Blomstermåla & närområdet

Midsummer is one of the year's biggest and most beloved traditions. Midsummer Eve is always celebrated on the Friday between June 19 and 25, and the day after (Saturday) is Midsummer Day. In and around Blomstermåla, the weekend is celebrated with traditional pole raising, flower wreaths, live music and dancing around the Midsummer pole.

Traditional celebration

Many people gather at local heritage sites and park areas in the surrounding area – such as in Ålem and Mönsterås – to dress the pole together and enjoy folk dancing and music.

Classic Midsummer food

Midsummer Eve is about community and good food. Fresh potatoes, herring, sour cream, chives and sun-ripened Swedish strawberries with whipped cream are among the highlights.

Tips for visitors

Bring your own picnic blanket, pack a good coffee and don't forget to pick seven types of flowers to put under your pillow at night!
