School transport & Info

Here we have collected important and practical information for those of you who have children in school or preschool – from rules for school transport and daycare fees to parental benefit, VAB and healthcare in Mönsterås municipality.

Child benefit

Child benefit (1,250 SEK/child) is paid automatically on the 20th of each month. If there are multiple children, a multiple-child supplement is also paid.

VAB – Child Care

If your child becomes ill and you have to stay home from work, you will receive compensation (approximately 80% of your salary). Simply notify VAB via the Social Insurance Agency's app on the same day that the child becomes ill.

Maximum Rate & Fees

The fee for preschool and after-school care is calculated based on household income. Thanks to the Swedish system of "Maxtaxa", there is a price cap that makes childcare very affordable for all families.

BVC & Child Health

All children (0–6 years) are entitled to free health care, growth checks and vaccinations through BVC at the Health Centre. For older children, Student Health is available directly at the school.

Not sure if your child needs to see a doctor? Call 1177 to speak to a nurse 24/7. The service is free and advice is available in Swedish and English.
