Practical tips for your day at the Alsterån

Show consideration & Public access

The Swedish right of public access gives us a unique freedom to be in nature, but it also means a great responsibility. Do not disturb wildlife, do not damage living trees or plants, and always take all your trash home with you. Leave the place in the same good condition as you found it.

Fire & Grilling

To protect the sensitive forest areas along the river, you may only make a fire or grill in the prepared and marked grilling areas. Always check if there is a fire ban in the municipality during dry summer days before lighting a fire.

Safety & Packing

Always wear a life jacket when you are on the water in a canoe, kayak or boat – even if you are an experienced swimmer. During the summer months, there can be plenty of mosquitoes and midges near the water, so pack a good mosquito repellent and clothes that cover your arms and legs for the evening.
