Important things to consider during the winter months
Ice cleats on! Only step on ice that is proven and safe. Always carry ice cleats and a rescue rope on frozen lakes.
Fire safely: Only use marked barbecue areas and bring your own dry firewood.
Winter roads: Make sure your car has good winter tires – smaller forest roads are not always shoveled immediately after snowfall.
Winter Tires & Winter Equipment: In Sweden, winter tires are required by law from December 1 to March 31 during winter road conditions (and studded tires are allowed from October 1 to April 15). Make sure your car has good tread depth (at least 3 mm), and always pack a snow shovel, reflective vest, and a warm blanket in case you drive on smaller, unsanded forest roads around the reserves.
